Big Screen, Big Films

Big screen, big films This summer will see one of Australia's biggest film festivals take place - the Sydney Film Festival.

Taking place between June 8th and 24th at the State Theatre and Dendy Opera Quays, the festival showcases the best that local and international cinema has to offer.

Last year's event saw movies such as Hard Candy, Brick, The Descent and Little Miss Sunshine played across the two venues, with work by up-and-coming filmmakers equally as popular as that by big name directors.

Alongside the films, a number of events take place to educate, entertain and inform about the dazzling world of film, including seminars, award ceremonies and gala screenings, covering issues affecting both local and international film industries.

The festival is non-profit and those staying in cheap hotels in Sydney will find that the indie vibe that brought the event into being in 1954 is still very much alive and kicking.
