Among the treats listed by festival organisers are a series of master classes by top chefs from around the world to help the amateur advance their culinary skills, the James Squire Food, Beer & Wine Writers' Festival by the South Australian Museum, the 28th Australian National Amateur Wine & Beer Show on October 14th and a farmers market at the Adelaide showground on October 14th and 21st.
Food lovers munching their way through all this will also be able to enjoy a wide range of attractions in and around Adelaide.
These include the beach at Glenelg, which can be reached from the city centre by an historic tram, the attractive Adelaide Hills and a day trip to the nearby Barossa Valley , famous for its wineries.
