If you're a lover of literary works, why not join the 25,000 likeminded people who flock to Australia each year for the Brisbane Writers Festival?

The event sees some of the country's best authors performing readings of their works, accompanied by international talent.

Taking place from September 12th to 16th, it offers a great opportunity for anybody who likes to steep themselves in linguistic joy, while the city itself has a great many cheap hotels for visitors.

According to the festival's organisers, 2007 should be the best year ever, with a remarkable selection of artists.

"The line-up of writers, events and workshops is simply terrific. From the man who holds the record for the biggest single book signing ever - Kevin J Anderson (the Dune series, Star Wars books and lots more)," said festival director Michael Campbell.

Although Brisbane is not a coastal town, it is within travelling distance of Australia's glorious Gold Coast.
