Brisbane Prepares for War

Unless you've been in Queensland when the State of Origin rugby tournament comes along, it's hard to imagine the buzz it creates.

While those in New South Wales (NSW) and South Australia enjoy AFL and Victoria is host to the world-famous Melbourne Cricket Ground, rugby league is the game of choice for ardent Queenslanders.

And when the chance comes around to get one over on their NSW neighbours, the best of their best draw lines in the grass and prepare to do battle.

Queensland will therefore be abuzz for the third game in the series - taking place on July 4th at Brisbane's impressive Suncorp Stadium - as these sporting behemoths dig to and do battle for their state and pride.

One word of advice for those planning to grab a flight, book into one of Brisbane's cheap hotels and enjoy this rare spectacle - although the Queensland team are called the maroons, the locals pronounce it "marones" - a source of much derision for those who err.
