Cricket Australia Opens New Academy
Cricket Australia (CA) has announced the opening of its new Centre of Excellence in Brisbane, which the Test team will use as a base when training to try and win back the Ashes.
The centre includes a state-of-the art gymnasium, video analysis room and integrated sports science facilities.
"The role of the centre of excellence is simply to help Australia remain at the top of world cricket," CA chief executive, James Sutherland, said in a statement.
It is also believed that in the long-term the centre will help Australia maintain its dominance of world cricket.
There will typically be between 12 and 16 students working at the centre on an 18-week programme, which includes skills development, fitness improvement and analysis of techniques.
Since 1998, there have been 260 players through the academy, with 186 of these going on to play at first-class level, 35 making the test side and 40 representing Australia.
