Down a Few Down Under

Down a few down under Culinary connoisseurs who fancy sinking their teeth into something nice on the other side of the world may find just the thing at the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival between March 16th and 30th.

Full details will be revealed in February, but already the festival organisers have put together a line-up as tasty as the food itself, including Canadian seafood specialist Robert Clark, French chef Thierry Marx, a man marked 19.5 out of 20 by Michelin, American pastry master Will Goldfarb and Melbourne's own Jennifer McLagan.

All the above will be holding master classes, while an immense range of food and wine will be on display and on offer over the two weeks.

Those enjoying the festival should not neglect to take in the rest of the city, however good its culinary reputation has become.

Apart from the warm climate, Melbourne has excellent beaches, a fanatical sporting culture and excellent shopping, while those who fancy traveling farther afield can take a 14-hour ferry to Tasmania or drive up the Great Ocean Road, where the highlight is the Twelve Apostles, a series of limestone stacks rising up out of the sea.

Melbourne has plenty of accommodation for visitors, including cheap hotels.
