Drink for Victory

Drink for victory Visitors to Australia's Top End in July will be able to witness a novel form of recycling focused on one of the country's main pastimes - beer drinking.

Held at Mindi Beach, the Beer Can Regatta sees a spectacular boat race with a difference, as all the boats are constructed from empty cans of the amber nectar.

Confirmed by the local tourist board to be scheduled for July 22nd, the event features boats of all shapes and sizes and provides free fun for all the family, with plenty of grog for the adults of course.

July is a good month for visiting the Northern Territory, with the mild dry season contrasting with the hot and humid wet season when it is summer in the southern states.

People staying in cheap hotels in the city can enjoy many fine beaches and boating, while discovering the local indigenous culture, this being the region of Australia which gave the world the didgeridoo.
