Get Sleazy in Sydney

Get sleazy in Sydney For a riotous party with a twist, Sydney's Sleaze Ball may offer all the filth that one can handle.

Taking place on September 29th 2007 - spring time in Australia - this crazy party is a celebration of gay culture and forms part of the Mardi Gras events.

A key fixture in the city's alternative calendar, it attracts locals as well as hordes of tourists who party the night (and morning) away before crashing out at their cheap hotels - or each others'!

The first ever Sleaze Ball was held way back in 1982, with the theme of dress up continuing to the modern day.

"While Mardi Gras Party is all wonder, celebration and light, the Sleaze Ball is darker and edgier," explains its organisers.

"There's room for everything from high camp to S&M, as long as it's sleazy."

Sydney has a vibrant and distinct gay culture, with areas of the city's nightspots devoted to revellers who enjoy this counter-culture.
