See the Greats at the Gabba
Sports fans can always find plenty to interest them in Brisbane, with its year-round sub-tropical climate and typically laid-back Aussie lifestyle, but if there's one sport Australia excels at more than any other, its cricket.
November 8th sees the start of a Test match as Australia take on Sri Lanka in at the Brisbane Cricket Ground, affectionately known as the Gabba after the suburb (Woolloongabba) that it is located in.
Cricket fans will get their first chance to see how Australia can get on following the retirement of two of their greatest ever bowlers, Shane Warne and Glenn McGrath, while Sri Lanka's own genius, Muttiah Muralitharan, will be looking to pass Shane Warne's record Test wicket tally of 708.
Away from the Gabba, visitors staying in cheap hotels in the city will be able to enjoy plenty of nightlife, good weather and boat trips of the Brisbane River.
