Sun, surf, sea and art in Sydney Manly Beach, the popular destination for surfing and laid-back beach living, will host its annual art festival in September.

Just on the outskirts of Sydney, Manly is a hugely popular destination for Sydney-siders and tourists alike, with golden beaches, glorious sunshine and plenty of places to eat.

The destination's art festival, which starts on the second Friday of every September, attracts thousands of visitors each year to check out the work of local artists.

Many visitors, backpackers and holidaymakers staying in one of Sydney's many youth hostels and cheap hotels make the journey to Manly throughout the duration of the festival.

The journey itself is highly regarded, as the famous ferry route from Circular Quay to Manly, which passes famous landmarks such as the Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House, was named as one of the Rough Guide's top 100 things to do in Australia.

Sydney is a vibrant city, with many bars, hotels (pubs) and clubs to entertain UK holidaymakers, while 24-hour drinking and glorious summers ensure that an British accent is never far from earshot.
