Worship Messiah in Melbourne

Worship Messiah in Melbourne It seems that Australia is getting terribly cultural this Christmas - if it's not the work of Tchaikovsky in Sydney it's Handel's Messiah in Melbourne.

Anybody spending Christmas Down Under or enjoying a stay in one of Australia's hotels during the festive period will have the opportunity to hear one of the most famous musical works ever composed at Melbourne's Arts Centre in Hamer Hall.

The performances on December 21st and 22nd will feature Antony Walker as conductor, Emma Matthews singing Soprano the Melbourne Choral Ensemble and of course the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (MSO).

Handel's Messiah is a big favourite among many classical music lovers owing to its musical narrative and sense of drama, as it focuses on the birth, death and afterlife of Jesus Christ.

The MSO is Australia's oldest orchestra and over the years has performed with the Three Tenors, Frank Sinatra, Elton John and even Meat Loaf.

It has also recorded music for a number of films, including Jurassic Park and The Polar Express.
