Austria Leads in Lederhosen Festival

For lederhosen lovers, it is fast approaching the most exciting time of the year.

The three-day lederhosen festival in the Austrian town of Windischgarten takes place between July 28th and 30th.

The festival attracts thousands of visitors each year and goes to show that the stylish mode of dress is still going strong.

There is a large competitive element to the event, with a wide range of categories to have a go at, including the lederhosen wearer who has travelled the furthest to attend, the largest group of lederhosen wearers, the most original pair as well as the popular Miss Lederhose competition.

For those who decide they have seen one too many pairs of Austrian knees, they can repair to the many beer tents or head to the nearby market stalls, which are well worth investigating.

The event is also home to a large VW Beetle rally and forms part of the Windischgarstner Kultursommer (Windischgarstner Summer of Culture).
