Celebrate Mozart at Salzburg Festival

Visitors to this year's Salzburg Festival are in for a special treat as it is the occasion of Mozart's 250th birthday.

To celebrate the anniversary of the great composer's birth, Salzburg and Vienna have organised a number of grand concerts and festivals throughout the summer.

The Salzburg Festival, which runs from July 23rd until August 31st, will stage all 22 of Mozart's operas and scenic fragments.

The event will feature dramatic operas such as The Magic Flute, Don Giovanni and The Marriage of Figaro.

Events in Salzburg kicked off at the end of January with the Mozart Week winter music festival and the usual one-week affair was extended to 14 days this year to mark the composer's birthday on January 27th.

From now until December, a series of special concerts will also take place in the city's cathedral and churches at the weekends.

Those wishing to visit the city's celebration of Mozart may wish to book their accommodation in one of the many hotels in Salzberg.
