Salzburg Cathedral was hit by a bomb on October 16th, 1944. While there were no injuries inside the cathedral, its dome was completely destroyed.

Entitled A Direct Hit to the Heart, the display, which will be open until October 26th, focuses on the destruction and reconstruction of the cathedral between 1944 and 1959.
Travellers can head to the centre of the city to see Salzburg Cathedral as it appears today. Boasting an impressive facade and a grand dome, the cathedral represents one of the most significant examples of baroque architecture north of the Alps.
Inside the building, visitors can see the font in which Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was baptised.
