Deuce by the Danube
Tennis fans have an extra reason to visit Vienna in October when the Austrian capital hosts the CA Tennis Tournament.
Beginning with the two-day qualifying tournament on October 6th 2007, the event is scheduled to climax with the finals on the 14th, the competition website states.
Played on a hard court at the Weiner Stadthalle, the tournament features 32 men in the singles and 16 pairs in the doubles, including some of the top male players.
Last year Ivan Ljubicic won the tournament for the second successive time, beating Fernando Gonzales in the final, while the star-studded list of past winners includes Britons Tim Henman (2000) and Greg Rusedski (1999), names engraved proudly alongside the likes of Federer, Agassi, Sampras and Becker.
Visitors staying in cheap hotels will also be able to enjoy the glories of the beautiful city of Vienna.
Filled with statues and gothic architecture, Austria's capital includes grand buildings such as St Stephen's Cathedral and the Rathaus, while the blue Danube winds through the city, on the west bank of which lies the Prater, one of Europe's biggest urban parks.
