Free 'spectacular' Concert in Vienna

Free 'spectacular' concert in Vienna People booking a cheap hotel in Vienna this summer might be among those interested in attending a free open-air concert.

The Vienna Philharmonic has announced that it will perform in the Palace Gardens of the Schonbrunn Palace, free of charge for locals and tourists.

Programme highlights are yet to be announced, but the orchestra can confirm that the concert will be held on June 8th, with a planets, sun and moon theme, conducted by Franz Welser-Most.

Last year, over 100,000 people attended the concert while many more enjoyed it live on TV.

Schonbrunn Palace and its baroque Palace Gardens is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, so visitors can enjoy a classical concert in treasured surroundings.

Tourists might like to visit the palace before the concert. It is most recognisable to Viennese people for its yellow exterior and its state rooms still have original furnishings, showing visitors the Imperial Austrian lifestyle in the early 18th century.
