Mozart Still Calling the Tune in Salzburg
This year's annual Salzburg music festival is currently taking place, offering visitors the chance to take in opera, drama and concerts.
Running until August 31st 2006, the event will take place in the beautiful alpine city, possibly offering travellers a chance to take in the culture in peace and serenity.
This year, a special celebration will be held as the festival marks the 250th anniversary of the birth of Salzburg's most famous musical son, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
Mozart's music regularly plays a large part in the festivities, with this year featuring several renditions of his work.
Salzburg also plays host later in the year to the Mozartuem, with a series of performances dedicated to the composer, held between September and June.
The International Mozarteum Foundation also has a series of museums at the birthplace, residence and memorials to Mozart.
Visitors staying in one of the city's luxurious or cheap hotels can also take time out of their sightseeing to see the magic flute lodge, where the legendary musician is said to have composed parts of the Magic Flute.
