Vienna River Festival is out on Its Own

The islands on Vienna's River Danube will be transformed this summer for the return of the Donau Island Festival, held between June 22nd and 24th.

A host of acts from around the world are set to appear on the festival's bill, which attracts a variety of different performances.

Over 2,000 artists are set to appear on 19 of the scenic islands over 16 stages - catering for music fans of every persuasion.

This year the bill is as diverse as ever when everyone from the Earth, Wind and Fire Experience to the Vienna Symphonic Orchestra will be dazzling the crowds with their classical concoctions.

What makes the festival unique is the fact that it takes place over a number of neighbouring islands, under the open skies, meaning that festival-goers get the feeling of being transported to a far-off place.

Live music performances are also backed up with a selection of local food handed out to revellers by a host of chefs onsite.

The festival was established in 1984 and has since welcomed many world renowned acts.
