Viennese to Get Their Skates on
Travellers with a sense of adventure and a better sense of balance may wish to check out the Austria Skate Marathon, to be held in Vienna.
Held in Vienna's Prater Park, the series of events will take place over August 19th and 20th 2006.
Participants can join in with team races, a ten km fun-run, and a 21 km fitness run, with different categories for male and female entrants.
However, visitors may want to book into one of the city's cheap hotels if they are to attempt the main event, a gruelling 42 km race, which may leave even the best skaters ready for a nap.
The event, whether enjoyed as a spectator or participant, is also a perfect opportunity to enjoy the sights of the city, with its spectacular architecture and beautiful artwork.
Vienna also offers a wide range of restaurants, museums and galleries for holidaymakers, while a vibrant nightlife keeps many younger visitors entertained.
