Animated in Brussels It'll be a feast of animated film and cartoon offerings at the Anima international animated film festival, exploding into colour in Brussels.

The new Flagey arts centre will be centre stage to a huge showcase of films, shorts and cartoons from an acclaimed selection of directors and filmmakers a truly global affair, the festival features works from a range of international artists including Europe and America, with 19 different countries represented overall.

As well as watching the latest crop of animated features visitors to Anima can take part in a number of special events including workshops, retrospectives and competitions, offering a more interactive experience overall.

Workshop topics range from internet animation to television and multimedia, completely exploring the world of animation in all its facets. All these events will be staged in the new setting of Flagey, former home to Belgian Radio Television.

Highlight movies at this year's Anima festival include two 3D feature films, Ugly Duckling and Me, which opens the festival and Free Jimmy, which will be the closing film.

The Anima festival takes place from March to April 2007, with plenty of cheap hotels offering accommodation in the area.
