Visitors to Belgium who fancy a bit of icy fun should get their skates on – literally.
Through from December 8th to January 7th the city has its own Christmas ice rink in the Grote Markt, in the shadow of the towering cathedral, offering experts and novices alike the chance to glide (or slide) while thinking of Torvill and Dean.
Antwerp's rink is just part of the city's festive celebrations, with a Christmas market and lots of Gluwein on offer as well.
In addition to the winter attractions, Antwerp has much to delight and fascinate visitors.
Apart from the aforementioned gothic Cathedral of our Lady with its 403 ft high tower, there are numerous art galleries in this, the birthplace of Rubens and Van Dyck, while the culinary options are as good as ever in Belgium, where the beer and chocolates are legendary.
