Excitingly Dour

Excitingly Dour Dour by name but not by nature, a small village in Belgium, just over the border from France, becomes a vibrant centre of excitement and entertainment as it stages the 19th Dour festival, a mix of al fresco music and partying that is anything but dull.

Held from July 12th to 15th, the event features a range of unusual and alternative acts, with the published programme including such acts as Explosions in the Sky, the Thermals and Part Chimp.

According to organisers, four-day passes are available for €75 (£51) with passes for any single day costing €35.

Visitors staying in cheap hotels will also be able to see a variety of interesting things in the area.

The nearby city of Mons has a number of grand buildings, including the world heritage Belfry, the cathedral and the spacious central square, dominated by the imposing town hall.
