Recycled but Definitely Not Rubbish
Those who enjoy unusual and modern forms of art may find a trip to Brussels well worth doing through July and August (dates to be confirmed), when the Recyclart festival takes place.
As the name suggests, this is recycling with a difference, with all that tedious sifting of various coloured bottles and cans into the right containers, replaced by an expression of culture that centres on a converted and renovated are of Brussels.
As the festival site explains, the project is based round the renovation of the old Chapelle-Kappellekirk railway station and its vicinity, with art, music and performances of theatre and dance to the fore.
Visitors staying in cheap hotels in Brussels will also be able to enjoy the usual wide variety of grand buildings such as the city hall, St Michael and Gudula's Cathedral and the Royal Palace, unsusual sculptures like the huge Atomium, famous statues like the Mannekin Pis and of course a range of fine Belgian beers and chocolates.
