Top of the glass Visitors to Belgium between in April and May will have a small window of time to visit something very glassy.

The Royal Greenhouses in the Laeken district of Brussels are open for a few weeks during this time, showing off a wide array of rare plants, including some descended from the original collection of King Leopold II, for whom the vast network of greenhouses was built in 1873.

These include the Royal Crypt, also in Laeken, the BELvue museum, dedicated to royal history and the spectacular Palace of Brussels.

Brussels also offers visitors a wide range of culinary experiences, with beer and chocolates to the fore, while other attractions include the famous Pis Mannekin and the Atomium, a giant sculpture of an iron atom that visitors can walk through, enjoying panoramic views across the city from its highest viewing points.
