Watch the Golden Performers
Visitors to Brussels in September will have a chance to add top-class athletics to the other attractions of the city at the Memorial van Damme meeting in the King Boudwijn Stadium on September 14th, one of the Golden League series of events.
Named after Ivan van Damme, the double silver medallist from the 1976 Olympics who was tragically killed in a car crash later that year, the event has been running since 1977 and features top class performers.
Last year, for example, winners included Olympic 100 metres world record holder Asafa Powell, Wilfred Bungei in the 800 metres and the local favourite, heptathlete Tia Hellebaut.
According to organisers tickets are available for between €20 (£13.55) and €85.
Visitors staying in cheap hotels will be able to mix sporting excellence with a trip to one of Europe's most vibrant capital cities, where fascinating old buildings and squares stand alongside the Atomium and the beer and chocolate is legendary.
