Fast and Louise

Fast and Louise For those who really want to get away from it all this winter, the Banff National Park in Canada's Alberta State has its own winter festival with more snow than visitors can shake an ice axe at.

Held from January 27th to February 4th (to be confirmed), the ten day Banff – Lake Louise Winter Festival has been running since 1917 and features sports such as a relay race from Mount Norquay to the central park, the Banff skating club's ice show and partying at Wild Bill's Saloon in the town.

However, visitors staying in cheap hotels in Banff will not just have the party and festival to enjoy.

The national park was Canada's first and the world's third, offering visitors a vast range of beautiful lakes, forests, glaciers, hot springs and mountain scenery, with plenty of winter sports opportunities.

Far from the big cities, it offers a chance to get away from it all and be at one with nature – when not partying of course.
