Food Fit for a Prince
Those who love a right royal feast of seafood will be able to enjoy the crowning glory of Charlottetown on Canada's Prince Edward Island this September, when the Prince Edward Island International Shellfish Festival takes place.
Lying close to Nova Scotia, the island is a good place to visit for anyone fancying a wide-ranging tour of the country and is a major centre for the seafood industry, with Charlottetown Waterfront turned into a palace of monarchical munching from September the 14th to 16th 2007, offering those staying in cheap hotels the chance to sample many kinds of aquatic cuisine as fish, shellfish and mussels all contribute to the regal mix.
As well as eating like kings, visitors can see the practice of oyster shucking (where the creature is cut away from its shell) at its best with national and international competitions.
There are also plenty of cooking demonstrations, offering recipe ideas and techniques for seafood lovers to take home.
