Out and About in Vancouver
Vancouver, a city known for its jaw-dropping views and beautiful backdrops is set to give visitors something different to see this summer.
The 2006 Vancouver Queer Film Festival is set to showcase the best in lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender (LGBT) cinema from around the world between August 17th and 27th 2006.
Opening night of the festival will see a special screening of what organisers believe is the first ever gay samurai road movie musical, Yaji and Kita: The Midnight Pilgrims.
The event will end with 20 Centrimetros, a tale of Marieta, of a narcoleptic pre-operation transsexual's dream of stardom and glamour in her new life.
However, the festival's centrepiece is Gypo, a British film in which issues such as immigration and identity are brought to life, backed by imagery of the British coastline.
The festival also focuses on LGTB issues such as human rights and HIV, while late night parties both reserved and outlandish might mean that visitors can stay out all night.
Vancouver offers travellers a wide range of cheap hotels and luxurious lodgings in its many gay-friendly areas.
