Tennis fans visiting Canada will be able to see some of the best in the world during the Rogers Cup, which is to be held from August 4th to the 12th for the men and the 11th to the 19th for the women.

Unlike many tournaments outside the grand slams, this tournament has both a men's and women's section, offering variety and the chance to see some of the top stars of both genders.

In the men's section, the holder is the appropriately named Roger Federer, whose veneer of invincibility appeared to have been punctured by Richard Gasquet in last year's final, with the Frenchman taking the opening set, before the Swiss legend raised his game to take the next two sets and the title.

Other leading men taking part last year included Carlos Moya, Fernando Gonzales and Rafael Nadal.

Meanwhile, defending women's champion Ana Ivanovic triumphed in a field starring the likes of Kim Clijsters and Martina Hingis.

Tennis fans staying in cheap hotels can see the men play at the Uniprix Stadium and the women at the Rexall Centre in York University.
