Santa Claus is Coming to Town

Santa Claus is coming to town The city of Toronto has more claims to fame than just having the world's tallest free-standing structure.

While the 1,815 ft high CN Tower peers down on the city, the streets below feature what is claimed to be the world's largest Christmas parade, which takes place every November.

That is the month when the Toronto Santa Claus Parade takes place (date to be confirmed), a tradition dating back to 1905 which has grown and grown, now featuring over 100 spectacular floats and of, course, headed by St Nicholas himself, no doubt enjoying a trip to the city before he gets very busy for Christmas.

Among the highlights is the sight of celebrities and businessmen in fancy dress, for which they pay CA$1,000 each, helping to fund the event.

Visitors staying in cheap hotels in the city will then be able to do some Christmas shopping downtown before heading home for the festive season.
