The World in One City

The world in one city If visitors to Canada imagine the country to be culturally Anglo-French and little else, they will be in for a pleasant surprise in Edmonton should they visit the city in early August.

Edmonton Heritage Festival takes place from August 4th to the 6th, with dozens of pavilions scattered across William Hawrelak Park in the city, each one showing off a different culture, reflecting the increasing ethnic and cultural diversity at the roots of much of Canada's citizenry.

With food, music, dance, costume, crafts and art, visitors staying in cheap hotels in Edmonton will be able both to enjoy themselves and gain deep insights into many cultures.

Organisers have confirmed that food tickets can be sold in advance to avoid long queues at food stalls on the day.

In addition to the festival, visitors to Edmonton can enjoy good nightlife, wide open spaces and, as a special treat for shopaholics, the West Edmonton Mall, the self-proclaimed world's largest shopping and entertainment complex.
