Toronto Film Festival
One of North America's most important events in cinema, the Toronto International Film Festival, is to take place this September.
Beginning on September 7th 2006, the festival will run until the 16th, celebrating films from around the world.
This year will mark the 31st instalment of the event which pledges to showcase the best in Canadian cinema.
One of the major showings in 2006 is The White Planet, a documentary about the inhospitable environment at the North Pole.
Thierry Piantanida and Thierry Ragobert's highly acclaimed film explores the distinctive animals which have managed to adapt to their surroundings.
Travellers staying at one of the city's many cheap hotels will also have the chance to get involved in the not-for-profit festival, as it looks to take on volunteers interested in making the event more successful.
Tickets for the individual showings will come available on September 6th, with screenings at various times throughout the day.
