Held from March 26th to April 1st, the event is naturally short on Canadian wine, with Australian fare and Rieslings being the centrepieces this year.

The festivities include a Bacchanalia Gala on March 28th, a wine auction and a wide ranging exhibition of wine labels.

While those who enjoy a tipple should enjoy the event itself, Vancouver offers a variety of attractions for visitors staying in cheap hotels in the city.

Vancouver has been regularly rated one of the best cities in the world to live in by the Economist Intelligence Unit, coming top in 2005, with close access both to the sea and British Columbia's Big Country of forests, mounties and mountains.
