Las Palmas on Gran Canaria has plenty of attractions at any time, but film buffs can add an extra one if they visit the city between March 16th and 24th.
During this time, the eighth Las Palmas International Cine Festival takes place, with organisers promising a variety of Spanish and international film, theme nights including Freak Night, which features the best in surrealism and gore, a retrospective on Morroccan cinema and the Magic Lantern, a special showing of films aimed at younger viewers.
Away from the many varied and interesting films, Gran Canaria has a whole range of interesting things to see and do for visitors staying in cheap hotels.
There are fine beaches, year-round sun and warm weather, volcanic scenery and plenty of interesting flora and fauna.
Las Palmas itself is well geared up for visitors, with plenty of nightlife and culinary options.
