Catch the Rhythm in the Canaries
Anybody looking for a winter break with a musical celebration thrown in will get just what they are looking for if they head to the Canary Islands in January.
Between January 10th and March 1st a musical extravaganza takes place, consisting of a number of concerts in Tenerife and Gran Canaria.
The 2008 programme of events consists of performances from the Budapest Festival Orchestra, the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Gran Canaria and others.
Music aficionados should also keep an eye out for such established conductors as Ricardo Muti, Sir Neville Marriner, Daniel Harding and Sakari Oramo.
This event has an illustrious history, with a list of past performers including Placido Domingo, Jose Carreras and conductors such as Andre Previn and Sir Colin Davis.
