Cruz Kicks of Film Shoot in Lanzarote
Filming of the latest Penelope Cruz flick has begun in the spectacular Canary Island of Lanzarote.
The destination will be the backdrop of new thriller movie Los Abrazos Rotos directed by acclaimed Spanish director Pedro Almodovar.
Members of the cast and crew will be based on Lanzarote for two weeks for the shoot which will take place in various destinations on the island.
Among the locations being used for filming are the popular resort of Costa Teguise and El Golfo - a huge volcanic bowl with a green coloured lagoon.
The film is expected to be released in March 2009 and will follow the success of her last Spanish language film Volver for which she was nominated an Oscar.
Lanzarote was recently praised by UK newspaper the Sunday Mirror for its sunny climate and ample sporting activities on offer.
Particularly popular sports for those staying in cheap hotels in Lanzarote include scuba diving, paragliding and sailing.
