Gran Canaria Delves into Cinema
Gran Canaria will be immersing itself in the world of film next year as it hosts its ninth International Film Festival.
This event will see screenings and presentations taking place all over the capital city of Las Palmas between February 29th and March 8th.
People staying in cheap hotels in Gran Canaria can find elements of the festival at a number of locations around Las Palmas, including the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium and the Monopol Multiscreen Cinema.
One of the highlights of the proceedings will be the presentation of the Lady Harimaguada, the award given to select participants of the festival.
The accolade is a miniature replica of a sculpture by local artist Martin Chirino, which visitors can see on Avenida Maritima in Las Palmas.
Two categories will comprise the main programme - the competitive official section and the non-competitive informative section - while there will also be a part of the festival dedicated to retrospectives.
