Gran Canaria to Host Grand Opera Season
People staying in cheap hotels in Gran Canaria this spring will have a world of culture at their fingertips as the island hosts its opera festival.
The Las Palmas Opera Festival has been part of the island's cultural calendar since the late 1960s.
It covers a number of months and this year will start with Gaetano Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor at the beginning of March.
Then, Jules Massenet's Thais will show between March 30th and April 5th, before people staying in cheap hotels in Gran Canaria are entertained by Gioachino Rossini's The Barber of Seville between April 26th and May 2nd.
The festival will end on a high, with performances of Giuseppe Verdi's Macbeth at the end of May followed by Umberto Giordano's Andrea Chenier.
Visitors can enjoy the season of operatic delights at the Auditorio Alfredo Kraus and Teatro Cuyas in Las Palmas, the capital of Gran Canaria.
