New Arts Centre to Open in Tenerife
People staying in cheap hotels in Tenerife from the end of this month will be able to visit a brand new arts centre set to open on the island.
The Tenerife Espacio des Artes (TEA) will open on October 31st in Santa Cruz's restored old quarter on the north-east coast of Tenerife.
Creating a contrast between its location and the contemporary art it will exhibit, the institute will forge a link between the old and new districts of Santa Cruz.
It was created by a trio of prestigious architects, including the Swiss designers Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron, who developed projects including Beijing's Bird's Nest stadium, London's Tate Modern and the Forum in Barcelona.
The TEA will host a permanent exhibition featuring work by Oscar Dominguez, a respected surrealist artist from Tenerife, as well as displays of other artists from the Canary Islands.
There will also be a large collection of photography on show at the gallery, along with paintings, sculptures and many other forms of art.
