Take Part in a Famous Tenerife Celebration
Travellers who get their cheap hotels in Tenerife booked soon will be able to enjoy the island's traditional Corpus Christi celebrations, which have built up something of a reputation around the world.
The festivities, which visitors will be able to enjoy in La Orotava between May 29th and June 1st, are a deeply rooted part of the culture of Tenerife and are considered occasions of 'national tourism interest'.
Local people are responsible for the exciting design schemes that take over the area for this festival, with streets adorned with various decorations, or 'carpets'.
Flowers are used to add an element of vibrancy and life to the aesthetic appeal of the celebrations, while volcanic sand is also brought in from mountains in Las Canadas del Teide.
La Orotava is particularly well known for the artistic quality of its decorations, which embellish pathways used for a Christian procession on the eighth day of the Corpus Christi festival.
The highlight of the creations is a street design in front of the main entrance of the town hall, which covers an area of nearly 1,000 square metres.
