Tenerife Hosts Tacoronte Festival

Tenerife hosts Tacoronte festival People staying in cheap hotels in Tenerife at the beginning of March may fancy a visit to the town of Tacoronte if they get in the festival mood.

Spain is well-known for its festivals and, of all the popular Spanish holiday locations, the Canary Islands is arguably the best-known when it comes to throwing a good party.

The festival in Tacoronte, which is just north of Tenerife's capital of Santa Cruz, is one of the smaller events, but no less fun or lively than its larger counterparts.

Santa Cruz turns into a hive of activity during festival season, full of music, dancing and striking float processions, and Tacoronte provides plenty of entertainment for partygoers who decide to get out of the city centre.

Revellers congregate on the streets and squares to enjoy the music and join in with conga, samba and rumba dancing.

Visitors will gain an insight into the genuine nature of Tenerife, as the Tacoronte festival will include songs and dances that are indigenous to the island.

Unlike other carnival celebrations, those at Tacoronte continue well into the period of Lent.
