Shanghai Time to Pay a Visit
The historic Chinese city of Shanghai offers plenty of attractions at any time, but October 2007 could see some British history in the making.
On October 7th the Shanghai International Circuit plays hosts to the penultimate race of the 2007 Formula One motor racing season, when rookie sensation from Stevenage Lewis Hamilton might just cap his sensational debut season by clinching the driver's world championship title.
The circuit will no doubt be packed with thousands of eager onlookers and many will be British fans staying in cheap hotels and preparing to unfurl the union jacks to celebrate what would be an incredible triumph.
Naturally enough, Lewis's team-mate at McClaren, Fernando Alonso, will be trying his utmost to hang on to his title and Finn Kimi Raikkonen may still be in the running too.
In the meantime, visitors can enjoy the remarkable city of Shanghai, which combines the remarkable and ground-breaking architecture of a rapidly modernising nation with historic temples and pagodas.
