It's over a decade since Croatia split away from Yugoslavia and the country has sought to make its mark on the world in cultural terms in recent years, with the Croatia International Film Festival in the city of Pula being one of the main events.
Featuring artists from all over the country, particularly Zagreb, the event takes place in November at a time yet to be confirmed.
Acts featured in recent years include the Zagreb Quartet, Zagreb Jazz Orchestra and Zagreb Philarmonic Orchestra.
The festival also features a series of meetings and seminars for the classical music industry, as well as 'Meetings of the Mediterranean Composers of New Generation'.
Apart from what it offers music lovers, Pula has plenty more for visitors, with beaches, yachting and sports tours.
Lying on the Adriatic coast, Pula offers a warm climate and plenty of accommodation, including cheap hotels.
