Wine and Dine in Cypriot Sunshine
While Limassol may be renowned for its status as a top beach resort, there is an added incentive to go there in late summer when the Limassol Wine Festival takes hold.
Held in the city's municipal gardens, more than 100,000 revellers are expected to end the summer in style, sampling Europe's finest wines.
However, wine is not all that is on offer - visitors staying in one of the many attractive cheap hotels in the city will also have the chance to take in some open air music and dancing, as well as some traditional Cypriot cuisine.
And while the thought of a week-long wine festival may make even the most experienced wine connoisseurs feel a little queasy, Limassol has plenty to keep even the most hungover traveller outside of the wide selection of the city's cheap hotels.
For instance, Richard the Lionheart was thought to have married Princess Berengaria of Navarre in 1191 - and there are a number of museums that could help visitors make up their own minds.
