Czech Republic Sees Record Number of Easter Visits
A record 280,000 guests stayed at Czech hotels and other accommodation facilities over the Easter break, according to latest research.
A survey by Czech tourism analyst Jaromir Beranek, reveals that this Easter saw an influx of tourists arriving for short trips, reports the Prague Daily Monitor.
Figures show that visitors to the Czech Republic spent more than CZK two billion in the country over the Easter break.
The survey also reveals that the number of tourists coming to the Czech Republic for the Easter holidays was between one-quarter and one-third higher this year compared to 2005.
In 2005, approximately 210,000 foreigners spent their holidays in the Czech Republic, up almost a quarter on 2004 figures.
Statistics show that the most popular destination within the country is the capital of Prague, where some 110,000 people headed for the Easter bank holiday weekend.
