Film buffs who fancy heading to the Czech Republic may be interested to know that such events are not just restricted to Prague, with the eastern town of Zlin hosting the International Film Festival for Children and Youth for the 47th time between May 27th and June 2nd.
As the name suggests, the event is chiefly aimed at the young, making it a good event for the family, with contemporary film and a wide range of celebrities on show.
Included in the list of competitions listed by organisers are the International Competition of Feature Films for Children and Youth, International Competition of Animated Films for Children and Youth and the Competition of Feature Films from the Visegrad Four (Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia and Poland).
The programme also includes a forum on Slovak cinema and a special showcasing of Dutch cinema.
The city of Zlin has plenty of accommodation, including cheap hotels.
