Discover Van Dyck in Prague

Discover Van Dyck in Prague Art enthusiasts staying in cheap hotels in Prague over the coming months will be able to see an exhibition of work by the great Anthony van Dyck.

Iconographie opened in Sternberg Palace at the Prague National Gallery on October 6th and will run until January 10th next year.

Van Dyck was a Flemish Baroque artist who enjoyed a highly successful career in the 17th century and became the leading court painter in England.

While he is primarily known for his paintings, he also created many etchings, some of which were made into a series of portraits of prominent figures that came to be known as Iconographie.

The display at Sternberg Palace features a selection of eight prints from the Iconographie cycle.

People staying in cheap hotels in Prague can also pay a visit to the National Gallery to see a selection of European art spanning a period from the Classical era to the end of the Baroque.
