Get into Shakespeare in Prague

Get into Shakespeare in Prague Fans of Shakespeare, or people interested in learning more about his work, will be able to combine some of his plays with a visit to the beautiful city of Prague this year at the 2009 Summer Shakespeare Festival.

The event will present open-air productions of some of the bard's finest works from June 21st until the beginning of September.

Most performances will take place in Prague castle and gardens, with associated festival shows being presented in other eastern European cities including Brno, Bratislava and Kosice.

The main event this year will be an interpretation of The Merry Wives of Windsor directed by filmmaker and stage artist Jiri Menzel.

Many other plays will be presented during the festival, including A Midsummer Night's Dream and Much Ado About Nothing, which will be performed in English by the British Shakespeare Company from August 21st to 23rd.

Cheap hotels in Prague will also prove popular for people with an interest in modern theatrical arts this year when the New Prague Dance Festival is held from July 1st to 7th.
