Head to Prague for the International Music Festival

Visitors to Prague will be able to treat themselves to some sophisticated entertainment this year when the city hosts the Spring International Music Festival.

This event will see some of the world's leading orchestras and classical performers come to Prague's State Opera House and other venues in the city from May 12th to June 3rd.

The festival will get underway with a performance by the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra on May 12th, followed by a production of Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin at the National Theatre on May 14th.

On June 1st, violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter will play at Prague's Municipal House to mark the 200th anniversary of the birth of Felix Mendelssohn, also giving a rendition of a symphony by Antonin Dvorak.

Peruvian tenor Juan Diego Florez will provide entertainment for people staying in cheap hotels in Prague when he sings at the Rudolfinum on May 15th, followed by baritone singer Thomas Hampson at Municipal House on May 26th.

A number of accompanying events will be held in the capital city during the Spring International Music Festival, including an exhibition exploring the work of the Czech composer Bohuslav Martinu at the Czech Museum of Music.
