Prague to Celebrate Important Anniversary in 2010
City breakers staying in cheap hotels in Prague next year can join in the celebrations marking an important anniversary.
This is because the Czech Republic is remembering the 700-year milestone of the accession of the Luxembourg dynasty to the Czech throne, with Prague putting on an exhibition that tourists are being urged not to miss.
The Royal Marriage - Elizabeth Premyslid and John of Luxembourg 1310 exhibition runs until February 6th in the At the Stone Bell building, the house where the young couple are believed to have stayed when they first arrived in Prague.
Fans of architectural history will be able to learn about Prague's appearance in 1310 and the lifestyles of the city's residents.
Exhibits on show include pieces of buildings dating from the period, jewels, handwriting, coins and sacramental objects.
Perhaps the highlight will be a lady's crown, which was apparently worn by one of the Bohemian queens who lived towards the end of the 13th century.
For those who prefer a more action-packed winter, Czech Tourism encourages tourists to head to the country's ski slopes.
